ABSTRACT:
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the views of students regarding the characteristics of a good teacher, focusing on two dimensions, their work and their personality. Initially, a theoretical approach to the subject is made, giving importance to the role of the good teacher and, in particular, to the teaching, pedagogical and evaluative dimensions of their work, as well as to their personality, all of which contribute to the formation of students’ views on the good teacher. Afterwards, the methodology for investigating the subject is described. The research, which meets the criteria of reliability and validity, was conducted with the participation of students from the Junior High Schools and General Senior High Schools in Epirus Region, Greece. The findings are very interesting, especially those concerning students’ opinions on the ability of a good teacher to organize pedagogical communication with students and the teaching-learning process, to shape a pedagogical climate, to manage discipline in the classroom and to evaluate students’ performance.

KEY WORDS: good teacher, student opinions, Junior High Schools, General Senior High Schools.
